I'm curious why you're going back to Celadon. The first go around when you were deathly ill they took forever getting you home. Took them weeks to come get your truck. They acted like you just took an extended vacation. I really felt for you. Your writing of helplessness affected many who follow your thread. I felt like I was experiencing it with you.
I was surprised to see you gave them another shot after what happened. If it was great then I don't think you would have left. Now you want to go back a third time?!?!?!
You have experience. You have a good work ethic. You are very optimistic when dealing with bad situations. Take what you have and give a smaller and better company a try. I have worked for 4 different companies 2x each (trucking and non trucking) None of them changed enough to stay the second time around.
There are thousands of companies out there. Nobody likes to job hop. Going back to same one over and over is still job hopping. So hop on over to a DIFFERENT company. Many suggestions have been offered. Go read the threads on those companies.
Don't take any of this the wrong way. I hate to see you punish yourself yet again. Hope you end up somewhere different that treats you great. You deserve it.Dominick253, albert l, TB John and 1 other person Thank this. -
I went back to the same company two times in my life, once in Germany and once in Canada, it was always a bad decision. Take your time and you will find a better outfit!Dominick253 and Captain Zoom Thank this. -
I am touched by the outpouring of support, even from those of you who (strenuously) disagree with my decision to go back. I do understand your position that it would be a step backwards. You must believe me when I say that both The Hot Chick and I are overwhelmed by your support.
Before I became a trucker I worked in the white collar world (Mitsubishi sales trainer). I was a member of the "respectable" echelon of society. Paul Fredericks tailored monogrammed dress shirts, different cuff links every day, highly polished wingtip shoes, corner office, power ties, company car, popular crowd at the mega church, the works.
The people were the most venal, two faced, backstabbing bunch of guttersnipes you've ever heard of. When the place I was working folded, I ended up changing careers--not by choice but with commitment once I started. Nearly everyone I knew turned their backs on me for lowering myself to this level. Even my wife's family--one person in particular tried to get her to take our daughter and disappear from this horrible situation.
That hurt.
Of all the "friends" and "family" I had when I was "respectable," only a very few remain (although they are REAL).
My point (and I do have one) is that since I've been a grubby, lowly blue collar drone, the vast majority of the people I've connected with are REAL. Some of them lack maturity, not all of them are completely sane, many of them don't agree with me, some of them are openly contemptuous of me, but for the most part in this world what you see is what you get.
I think that's the way things are supposed to be.
So believe me when I say to those of you so disagree with me that I appreciate your candor; I have my reasons for going back but please know that I have much respect for each of you and hope you will stick around (I know some of you will just for the chance for an epic "I-told-you-so." Don't deny it; opportunities for those are rare and you're only human!).
I will not argue/bicker with those of you who disagree with me (much). I will say to the last two posters that there are those here who have gone back to a previous employer and it has worked out.
Re: The Great Texas Sickness Couldn't Get Home Incident: Yes, that was a bad one. A planner or two really had a rectocranial inversion. I eventually got it worked out and I now know how to use their system to counter that sort of thing.
Come to think of it, I have also learned how to counter it here (different method).
Anyway, thanks to all of you for reading. I hope you stick around as 2016 promises to be an interesting time. I think it will be in a good way.
Now, if I could only find a $#@&!! cane....Dominick253, scottlav46, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this. -
Plot twist: just saw an email I got yesterday afternoon.
Seems there's an issue with my DAC. A former employer is claiming that I quit under a load and abandoned my equipment (false, out of character, but the DAC report doesn't know that).
Looks like I'm not going anywhere for a while.
I'll have to start the dispute process today. Might have to hire an attorney (I know a gal).
It's possible this is a misunderstanding. Either way it will get fixed soonest.
Meanwhile, looks like I'm a Gordon driver for a while longer.
Might as well be a good one.Dominick253 and scottlav46 Thank this. -
Good luck to you, hot chick, and phredd the goat. I know how much backstabbing and fare weather 'friends' can hurt. Mine just treated me like I contracted the plague, but de-friending on LinkedIn is really not as huge of a loss as they hoped for. Like elementary school all over again.
Pintlehook and Captain Zoom Thank this. -
Holy crap what people wont do as "revenge" for leaving!! Does this company have Bros. in their name?
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
Rather not say at this point; will keep you posted on remedial measures
TB John Thanks this. -
Why am I flashing back to Hee Haw, when they sang that song with gloom, despair, and agony in it?? Also the phrase , if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all, is sticking in my head!!!
Really hoping things turn around for you soon. Wish I could recommend my company to you, but no condos and we're out and back. Good people tho and a decent company.Captain Zoom Thanks this. -
Hey Zoomy, I was about to wish you luck in your new (old) endeavor, but now it looks like you're staying put anyway. Just remember the definition of insanity when/if you consider returning to a previous employer. Good luck in fighting the DAC Report, good luck with your current employer, and most importantly, Merry Christmas to you, the Hot Chick, Phredd, and your family.
And thank you for keeping us entertained. I definitely don't agree with some of your choices, but they are just that, YOUR choices. Keep on keepin on, Brother.Captain Zoom Thanks this.
