Here's what's wrong with the trucking industry in a nutshell....Experience???...Ha! ...they don't want experience, because you've been around the block and screwed over to many times for their "Logistical Pencil Pushing Geeks" with a 200k education and a 25k a year job to know better than they do. They want truck robots with a camera in their face, low pay, truck stop drivers..that's what the big companies want
They all suck!

While I agree with some of what you're saying, I will say that some of what you are saying is misconstrued beyond understanding. The biggest stress I've had as a truck driver in this year alone was traffic and whiny DMs and bosses. My time was as an OTR driver was short as hell yeah. But then again that just was not meant to be according to the Powers that Be. Think of it this way: I was a correctional officer for almost six years before I fell into this industry. Now you want to talk about some "unflattering" exposure? When three of my friends stopped 5 would be escapees from getting out of our unit here in Texas (They all had life sentences), we had very little support. Some would say we went much too far in putting bullets in their worthless carcasses, but that was our job. The creed was "Provide public, promote positive change in offender behavior, reintegrate offenders into society, and assist victims of crime." We were only portrayed as rabid dogs and untrained heathens because of a few bad apples and the words of our former governor Rick Perry. It burned me every day to put on that uniform, but I did it as I had a job to do and it was my "bread and butter" so to speak. Yeah. Truckers are portrayed in unflattering tones again because of a few bad apples and bad media exposure due to some of the mistakes that were made by those bad apples.
Now on to the companies. The reason so many of these companies are "bad" (or "suck" in your case) is some of the drivers themselves. Yes, Stevens Transport has my DAC in shambles but I take partial blame as well. Now some of these "drivers" come into the industry riding on the promises of "fortune and riches beyond their imagination." Oops! There is screw up number one. Swift and Stevens Transport "promised" me "$800.00 to $1000.00" a week. I didn't buy into any of that crap nor did I jump right into the Alliance Lease Program, but considered trying it. Buying into that B/S is the main thing that makes most drivers hate who they run with. I may have cleared $900.00 one time in the short four months I was an OTR for Stevens. But after taxes and other miscellaneous fees, I was given $585.00. That was my first and last trip to New York City. I could go into the other screw ups and lies a lot of new drivers fall for, but that would take too long and I have holidays to enjoy. But then they come and cry and whine and piss about how a company screwed them over ruined their lives. Sorry but this is not the industry for that. There is no place in any work industry for that. As they told me: "Take off your girlfriend's panties and put on your big boy drawers. Complaining never got anyone anywhere. Take that from a Warthog who knows.Last edited: Dec 23, 2015
Lonesome Thanks this. -
True enough. And the wages speak volumes now don't they? Let's not forget the "fleece" programs that work for some and screw others.

I laugh everytime someone use this. It's such bull@$& now if you use 70 hours then you might have a little leg to stand on. Sorta reminds me
