turns out that even though i filed the good faith effort extension in 2013,,since my install was NOT completed in 2013,my truck is only compliant until 1-1-2020 not 1-1-2023 as stated by the company performing the installation,,there are going to be tens of thousands if not more O/O's screaming bloody murder when they find out that although they followed the guidelines, they will not be compliant after1-1-2020,,just found this out today when trying to verify my compliance date with CARB,,still gives me 4 more years but gone are the additional years I was sold to believe when I installed my filter in Jan 2014
bad news for all of us who did the retrofit in 2014

Of course, because they only want your money. Once you pay they need to find rules and regs. To make us pay again. It's becoming very tiresome and predictable.

Are they trying to push everyone into leasing?

in four years I will be looking for a way to put a 2010 engine in the truck,,many say it cannot be done but many said you could not convert an earlier model car to fuel injection either back in the 90's,,,anything can be done

I think california should just start their own trucking business, it will cost the tax payers a fortune and they can have al lot of management that does nothing and retire in 25 years. it's a very progressive idea I'll bet old moon beam would go for it.

They want us to buy newer trucks or do engine conversions,,,hopefully the aftermarket will step in with ways to upgrade engines without having to scrap the whole truck,,as a woman would say--why buy the whole pig when you just need a little sausage,,truckthatpassesyouby Thanks this.

Meanwhile hordes of people are buying up all the old trucks and working them next to new trucks. All same rates.Im getting an immaculate 359 tomorrow for the price of a b.s filter. AND it's 3406b has just been rebuilt a 100 thousand miles ago. Thats 12-14 k . BUT The guy bought a brand new tractor for 150 k. My 1992 379 is in better shape than all the newer trucks ive seen.I will gladly pay a fine before I throw a couple years paychecks away for a plastic turd .And if need be my cherry trucks can work in 47 other states. So California air resource board can sit on it.
scottlav46, Mudguppy and ramblingman Thank this. -
I will state a "rumor" that I heard. "CARB" will be always updating information with the DPF's. Now, what I have heard, once everyone has gone Compliant whether with a new truck of DPF retrofit, when 2020 come around, the retrofit installs may go extensions and even leave them alone because they will only be a small percentage of them. Almost like a grandfather rule, but you won't be able to go buy a truck with a retrofit install if this goes thru. It would only comply to the individuals who have had it since day one. This is only a rumor from a reliable source who attends all of CARB workshops meetings.

would definitely like to hear more about that,,Beth White ARB manager indicated yesterday in our conversations that currently they have no rule exceptions in the works,,her word was that good faith effort only prevented enforcement actions during the period ending 7-1-14
