Driver Forgets To Set Brakes At Fuel Island

Saw the same, but with a lot more damage to both the truck and the trailer. I'm upstairs eating lunch which overlooks the fuel islands outside at Flynns. Anyone who's ever been there knows there's quite a slope when you pull in. Driver pulls in, no biggy. Gets out and walks to the building to take a comfort break.

I'm still eating, and next thing I see, is the truck backing out, at a high rate of speed. 1st thing I'm thinking is maybe the driver is ticked off at the fuel attendant or something. The rig and the trailer continue to increase speed as it's going backwards and then I realize it's a runaway. Rig jack knifes itself, rolls over and stops just before entering oncoming traffic on 20, in front of the entrance to UPS. I then tell the management they just had a runaway truck. We find the driver, who runs out immediately. Seems he had 3 dogs he left in the cab and all took the wild ride that ensued. Almost a brand new cascadia and trailer both ruined.

I felt bad for the dogs........

 

Years ago on I-81 in PA at the old exit number 66. I believe a Matlack or Circle C parked a tanker and went in to eat. Came out and no truck. Called cops to report it as stolen. Got to checking where he had parked. Sure enough he didn't set the brakes. The truck rolled backwards down a steep steep bank, crossed 2 lanes of highway, through the median, crossed 2 more lanes, then went down the bank into the woods. No traffic as involved as the truck crossed all of the highway.

 

We have a brand new Volvo in our shop right now. Boss bought it cheap. It was being transported to the dealer when the driver decided to visit the casino. I guess he was in such a hurry to get in there, he forgot to set the brakes. Truck ended up in a lake.

Still working the kinks out of it, but should make a good truck.

 

What I was thinking probably on elogs and in a big hurry to stop the elog and yes looks like the bandit off 78

 

How can you lock yourself out if you lock the door with your key?

 

You have to look very closely. You can see the driver running back to the truck as he silhouetts against the white prostar. He apparently gets back in but not in time to stop.

 

trucks have locks you can push down like cars do.I drove older trks that didn't have power locks Windows or mirrors.so yes it can be done.

 

I only lock my door with my key. I never do it until I'm out of the truck. That way you never forget the key. I learned the hard way too.lol

 

Idk I always locked my door with the key that way you don't lock yourself out and yes I've driven old trucks too from the 70s but i can't think of any modern truck that can't be locked with a key that way you won't be locked out.

 

Ive locked my keys in my car four times since I got it thank God road Assistance is part of .my insurance.I quit locking my car.

yep not exactly fun waiting for a locksmith to come.twice I locked my keys in the trk in my own driveway while on hometime.this was when I drove for gainey.John in road breakdown got the biggest kick out of that having to give me the VIN number once again so I could have peterbilt make me a key for the second time and because of that John and I became good friends lol.
