That was kind of rude to say to someone trying to learn something.

Look at his reply to me in the post I quoted.

You got him back real good. I'd say you're the winner.Jumbo and johndeere4020 Thank this.

Looping one chain end around two spools will not give you two times the WLL of one spool. That is not how they are designed to work; if it were the trailer manufacturers would be all over that to rate their trailers as "heavy duty".nate980 Thanks this.
-
If you wrap a single chain around two spools the load is not going to be pulling equally on both in most instances. For example with a 45 degree tie to the rear of a machine most all the force is going to be on the rear spool.

So what do you guys make of this then? It looks like at least one manufacture would disagree. @macavoy

Well they are saying a single spool is 5000 and a double spool is 6600 so they give it slightly more strength but certainly not double.
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
Can we just get a long?
-
Nobody is looking for double. A 3/8 chain is not double the wll of a 5/16 chain. Even if it's the same wll using 2 is still safer than using 1. It's redundancy. It's like having a reserve chute when you jump.cglascoe01 Thanks this.
