Today on Judge Judy there was a Truck driver suing a woman who lived with him for rent, and he said that he had money problems because he is a Truck Driver and work was slow in winter, is that true?

It's slow in some facets of trucking, but not the whole industry.
Pulling reefers generally picks up during the winter months because people tend to buy more food for the various holidays.
When I pulled tankers it got slow with some chemicals, but we also had dry bulk loads to make up for it, hauling flour and other food products.
Some drivers like it slow because they know looking at the big picture, they still will make a hefty annual income.Aarrons Thanks this. -
Lol, it always amuses me to see where people get there "information" from. Next we will have a egotistical billionaire running for President, O wait, forgot Hillary is running. Guess that already happend.Highway Sailor and Straight Stacks Thank this.

It gets slow in retail freight after January, construction is slow due to weather, but everything else is crazy due to the fact that the economy is is pretty good and there are not enough drivers.
-
And you got this information from a Judge Judy show? Well, that's got to be valid, right?
-
He might have been a driver in the "construction trade" or other unique industry that is weather dependent.

If you're watching Judge Judy it sounds like the biggest problem is the batteries in your remote are dead.
Swap 'em out and it should allow you to change the channel...problem solved.Lepton1, Straight Stacks and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
First of all, wow, getting career info from judge judy, wow. Second you can not make a blanket statement about trucking. There are a lot of differant types of trucking and a lot of differant types of freight. They all have differant busy and slow times, but trucks are always rolling.
-
Also, slow is a relative term. Winter is "slow" for me. Down to 45 hrs a week from 55 hrs in the summer.
Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
If you want to use an actual industry tool that's free. (As opposed to some moron on a daytime court show) click the link below.

This shows the spot rate averages for parts of the country as well as the load to truck ratios for various states for the 3 major modes of transport. Dig through that for a while and see what you think.Lepton1 Thanks this.
