LOL... I'm used to purchasing Plenum Cat 5.... That coax is cheap compared to that.

Cat-6 is over kill for home networking..

Quite the oppsite,I have always had real goodluck with 6' Francis antennas, I have used them behind Cobras, Galaxys, and Rangers. I have had them as single behind the cab and co-phased on mirror mounts. I pull pnuematic tankers,but I have used them in front of 53' refers and had on problems.

 

What are the pros and cons of having an in-line meter? For instance, I have an Astatic 600 dash mounted unit with SWR/RF Gain/modulation. Is there any loss due to the added connectors?

Also, I'd like some advice on bonding. I have found a variety of posts regarding the importance of bonding with braided ground straps. For the newbie; would the 'scatter gun' approach bring good results? By that I mean, grounding everything in sight (excluding the positive battery post), within reason

 

I found that if you think its grounded, and your SWR is ok, run another strap to a good frame contact and cab mount and chances are you will have to re-tune the antena.
