I dunno.
If you start out in this industry as a decent human being, believing that most everyone else is also decent and honorable...and then reality punches you between the eyes...and you keep looking for someone, anyone, to prove that not everyone in trucking is a greedy, self-absorbed, lying sack of crap...and you keep coming up empty...
...that hurts you in ways many people can't imagine. And when you're hurt, you need to heal.
That's The Way I See It.

Abuse comes in many forms, and I feel emotional abuse is one of the worst. And yes, some if not many of us company guys DO get abused emotionally by our carriers.
How many carriers make a point of demonstrating how easily we can be replaced? How many of us have been made to feel "lesser" because we can't safely and legally do our jobs? How many of have, at some point, felt "pushed" or threatened by our carrier to do something we don't feel safe doing?
Sure, the easy answer is "just find another job, driver!" And yes, there are hundreds of jobs available. But what is the difference between one job and the next? The idea that drivers are a "dime a dozen" is so inculcated into our industry, there is absolutely zero reason for abusive carriers to change their ways. Bring'em in, burn'em out, and throw'em away! There will be another forty or fifty clamoring for that job in orientation next week! And sadly, the abusive carriers far, far outnumber the decent carriers who see their drivers as invaluable professionals.
So what can we do? Find a good carrier? I did, and I'm ###### lucky I did. Maybe figure out a way to provide incentive for a bad carrier to change their ways? Good luck with that. Again, 40-50 brand spanking new drivers per week just waiting to plant their butts in your seat before it gets cold. Unionize? Again, good luck. The war between union and non-union drivers is long and bloody, and not likely to see an armistice any time soon. Be an Owner Operator? Sure, if you have the financial resources and discipline to pull it off. Not all of us do.
Sorry, I'm out of ideas. Somebody else is gonna have to solve this one, my brain is completely fried after chasing this problem.Gearjammin' Penguin and TB John Thank this. -
This industry will turn you into a monster if you want to succeed. That's how it seems sadly. I noticed if you're a person as you mentioned and you try to help another person out that's being "abused" most of them don't listen. Sometimes drivers keep getting screwed over, and call you just to "vent",to hear that they're right, from you. But they won't take your advice or find a solution to their problems.
I met a Werner guy, he was a decent fella. He has been seeing 600-800 a week pay checks and been with them for like a year and a half. Clean record, doesn't go home, and so on. But complained about how they treated him, and his pay, and so on. When I asked him why not leave? He simply was worried about paying off his "CDL" to the company, and said hell get through it for another year and a half. I tried to explain to him if he has a clean record, and all that stuff, since he seemed like a decent guy, that he can find a better company and if he has to pay $3,000 to Werner, he will still make more money, and be treated better, but the guy just doesn't listen to it. All he wanted was for someone to hear him out I guess. Pretty messed up. I've never personally been cursed out, or treated wrong, or had my money with held from any company as a driver. I would never let it happen. Sure there was a guy always that tried to kick me down in a situation, but nope. One time I threatened to leave the truck in Canada if I was going to get paid for my time wasted because they messed up the paper work, and tried to charge ME for it..didn't wok for them when I put my foot down. Drove another 3 weeks, collected my pay checks, returned the truck in a nice manner, and left. People told me they probably won't apy me, but they did for my last pay check. So many guys had problems with that certain company I don't wish to share, but I didn't.Gearjammin' Penguin and Vilhiem Thank this. -
I hear him? But words are meaningless unless action follows! Proof is in the action not the words, let's hope he will keep to his words

Good pitch I think the he is either lying or can't find his but with both hands. I don't think he or his company is for real. If he is for real he's going to be big in the trucking world. Time will tell.
