I have been already accepted to Stevens transport and will be starting early in February. I know both companies have their ups and down but i was wondering which would be better to join? Or any other schools to apply to with one on one training preferably around DFW area?

My main concern is to get the best training i can possibly get. I don't want to end up getting dropped and stuck with the bill because I can sort of be a slow learner. And finding out that Stevens Transport have four students in their trucks seems like it will be hectic and not much drive time during the two weeks we have in the truck. I honestly don't think i will be ready to take on the road test.

Also do guys know if i can still reapply and get accepted to Stevens if i do leave and change my mind? So far I have only been calling to let them know that i will be coming every Friday ever since i got accepted.

Millis is a better company with the exception of driver facing cameras. However, Stevens has solid training, your out 4-5 weeks at a time with Stevens. Millis has a more flexible home time policy. Hope this helps.

I'm probably overestimating the difficulty of learning how to drive a truck because to me it seems pretty hard. Do you think the time they give during the 3 week with one week mainly being in class be enough to pass the road test? Along with 3 other students lol.

Can't answer that honestly. It depends on how good the instructors are, time behind the wheel, and your ability to grasp things. I would ask them if you need additional time, will they give it to you.

Did you look into FFE ( Frozen Food Express)? I think they have training close to Dallas.

Not to be funny but I think Schneider would work out well for you also.Know they have a Facility around DFW and after 6 months of driving for them you would have the Option of becoming a Lease Operator( I dont Recommend). It would at least give you some options though.I have a Friend who is over their and he like the Program where he gets to pick his Own freight. He has been driving for a few years though and is Really business minded.Just some food for thought

i believe FFE still has their place here in DFW, at least that yard is there. i cringe to mention it but even cr england has a "school" just outside Dallas. I went through FFE, left for greener pastures after @ 3 months. ended up settling the "bill" for $1,000. for better or worse, with Steven's you'll definitely get your New York City experience. Millis besides the driver facing cameras, seems to be really fond of those TINY sleeper trucks.

How was the quality of training offered at FFE? How many students did they have per truck? I might go to a community college if thats what it takes for some quality one on one training.

FFE might be a better option than Stevens. I actually got accepted to both them and Maverick. I went with Maverick because of the training. After I done my research, KLLM/FFE was a close second to Maverick. I'm contiplating going to FFE for LTL in Georgia. Hope this helps. Be safe
