Thanks! Most all the truckstops only carry a 10.

You increase the chance of premature wear on your injectors. Do you have two fuel filters or one? If two you should run a 25 in the davco and a 7 in the one after the pump. If one you need a 7 in the davco. Pick up a box of them every time you're at freightliner or detroit. The Fleeguard elemax ones tend to last a lot longer than the others.

Just checked, TA has been putting a 25 micron filter in my davco380 (fleetguard ff 5369) -- but I don't believe my 12.7 has another fuel filter. If it did, where would it be?

It would be on the line between the pump and the head. The fuel pump runs off the back of the air compressor. The filter would be attached to the block on the drivers side.

strange enough one day while in fleet pride the guy behind the counter was selling me a fuel filter, he paused & asked if I care what name is on the receipt? cause he could sell it to me for $3.25 a filter instead of the $8.75. told him to give me a case. he did. the same thing happened at truck pro & another independent dealer. profit margin must really be high to be able to lower the price like that. in all cases it was the mgrs who gave me the deal & all the receipts showed item was sold to a huge co with a lot of trucks that get that discount.

My truck pro delivery guy has done that before. He told me that the big companies buy them from the manufacturer & pay them directly, then the dealer gets something for handling them. He has brought me filters billed to a large national paving company that has a branch here where I live. I have to pay cash or check but still a pretty good savings.

If he doesn't have filtering after the 25 micron, yes he can have problems on his detroit or just about any other engine.

I carry walmart tech 2000 two stroke oil and just fill Davco with that after filter change. Neat and easy

my detroit came with the davco. no other filter. I have in the summer filled davco up with lucas fuel inj cleaner & poured the rest in the tanks at fill up. made a noticeable difference in starting & m.p.g. though it has been over several years since I used anything, been trying different methods over the past 17 years. like I am going to keep the 15 micron detroit filter on hand this winter.

last couple winters, had the 7 micron fill up at from 200 to 500 miles & everywhere in between. I would be at 50% at the house, then 180 miles away the filter would be at it's limit, this 15 micron sure lasts a lot longer. though with mine it may have been the exhaust gases that were adding to the short life of the filter with the soot & all. no more soot or slug looking debris or algee looking organisms this last couple months.
