Why am I the only trucker to use an umbrella?

    I do not see the point in walking long distances in heavy rain and to drive while soaking wet clothes all day. Not to mention I feel a little sick if I do so, like a light fever. When truckers see my umbrella they stare like its a new invention. I just hate the feeling of wearing heavy wet cold clothes.

    I'll never forget last spring I had an appt at a Walmart DC in New Orleans and it was around 2pm but the sky was nearly black with huge clouds and strong winds. It wasn't even raining yet but I grabbed my raincoat. While in line every trucker gave me a weird look. By the time the walmart shippers decided to start checking us in, man it was like a hurricane outside it rained so hard people were afraid to go outside. Then they all looked at me and said "This guy is the only one smart enough to bring a raincoat".

    While 10 of them waited at the door looking out I calmy walked to my truck and got in a door without getting wet.

    I have carried 1 in the truck for years , originally it was for the wife , kids , grandkids but I use it as well for same reasons you noted better to be dry than worry about the looks you get

    Yeah in fact my teeth are better than ever since I am stuck in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but wait its a perfect time to brush and floss.

    If you dont have a weather proof coat you can find the fold up ones that will clip onto a belt loop and be ready for the walk back to truck in rain.
