Tim at snake radio customs uses scope and spec analysers. I would highly recommend him.
As far as "CB store" in Fontana, CA....all those guys are clueless. -
-125 db noise floor is pretty impressive for a clueless technician especially since most of the best techs in the country are unable to achieve that. Granted, Ron Damron only works on Saturdays, and that type of receive sensitivity isn't part of their standard tune and they do charge extra for that , so you would be kinda screwed any other day of the week in Fontana

Reason for edit: they charge extra for a low noise floor -
Based on what I see in the video he doesn't have the proper test equipment to evaluate the radio. -
I have yet to see someone apply a two-tone to check the transmitter audio. And the last time I checked that's the only way you can really check a transmitter's audio.

I have never seen either used in any of his videos. I have seen the arguments he's had on various forums where he insists that he doesn't need them.
He does have a passion for what he does, which is why I recommended him as a good repair tech.762x39 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
"CB store" in Fontana, California will never see my hard my earned money. Paul, especially, is a joke -trying to sell me stuff way overpriced -probably because of lack of business. The way Paul talks to customers is also a joke. To my advantage though...Paul turned down a walk-in customer selling a perfectly good working condition Ranger RCI 2950 which I ended up buying for only 35 bucks that day. Thanks Paul!
Never met your Saturday guy though -not sure if he still works there or worked there all the wasted time I spent at "CB store" few years back.
I go to Tim at Snake Radio Customs. I started using Tim a few years back and have been nothing but satisfied. All the radios Tim has done for me have worked perfect and provided me with years of good working service. I've never had to send a single radio back to him. I'm not a CB expert (not claiming to be) and I'm not 100 percent sure of Tim's tuning methods. I know enough to know that he does a good job and people on the CB can hear me loud and clear which is all that matters at the end of the day. I get compliments all the time of how "loud" I am. No need to get into details with scopes and analyzers as they are redundant to me....as long as I can be heard loud and clear, thats all that matters. No need to spent extra hard earned money when one can be heard loud and clear just fine. When I get bored of a radio, I just sell it on eBay and just simply buy another. I also have a few Amps laying around. Good thing this is an inexpensive hobby. I mainly only use the CB when I'm driving big rig trucks. I use the 2950 in my personal Toyota Tundra when I'm at home. I also go mudding here and there which the CB comes handy. Radio check one-nine come on dog gonit!Last edited: Dec 29, 2015

I agree about all the people you met at that shop being complete morons. I just don't want their bad reputation to tarnish Ron Damron's reputation. Unfortunately he is not the owner and he is only an employee part time at that.
762x39 Thanks this.
