Some states don't give you a warning, they just suspend, no questions asked. But how does one who may have been unemployed for 3 months, come up with 3 months of payments [based on a much better job/income] on a new minimum wage or other piss-poor job?
My CS was based on a $90k/year salary I was drawing 15 years ago, along with business interest. I don't have that position/business anymore (had to sell the business due to the divorce ironically) but I try (struggle) and honor the decree anyway and do "right" by them. It's not easy.

^^^^True, I've never been in the situation so its kinda easy to speak from the outside looking in. Although I do pay CS, Although they may not warn me, I know that its state law that they can and probably will suspend my license. Thats my responsibility to know that.
And I don't agree with the suspended license in anyway….MidwestResident Thanks this. -

Find a non-driving job, catch up on child support, then return to driving
MidwestResident and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I wonder how many carriers will look at this particular suspension any different then another cause for suspension? A suspension is a suspension in the eyes of most driver hiring offices. They won't ask about the how or the why.
Once you're branded with a recent CDL suspension, you're done. I could be wrong, but I doubt it, in most cases. And being suspended because you're apparently a "dead-beat dad"??? Sure most female HR personnel who approve driver hires will appreciate this, too.MidwestResident, Mudguppy and crzyjarmans Thank this. -
Very true, even after the suspension is lifted, he may need to wait a few yearsMidwestResident Thanks this.

NOT if you can get proof of why it was suspended. And you usually can, they do send a letter out to you. As for a company, they look at the entire MVR. Depending on the state, reason for suspension is noted on the MVR, and if there's no violations that would cause a suspension, you're golden.Badmon, MidwestResident and sevenmph Thank this.

This is why you guys need to stay on top of child support. Especially if you have an ex that's vindictive.
MidwestResident Thanks this. -
I do not have child support so I do not know, but what if a father has always paid then loses his job and can not pay for a while? Does The State care? Do they give him a chance?MidwestResident Thanks this.
