I think there are a higher percent of female drivers are good than male drivers. Most females that drive really want to drive and are our to prove themselvrs. A lot of males drive because they think it is easy money and don't really want to be drivers and don't care

I tend to agree. Women still seem to be a bit of a rarity in trucking and trades. The few I have had the pleasure of working with were very professional and actually cared about doing their job well.

With women being a rarity in trucking, it would seem that their positive numbers will be higher - percentage wise.

I'm not bashing women in general in this biz, but that last one certainly took them down a bit.
She was a rarity, for either gender. To be so uninformed, so well untrained, that the driver had no idea of the actual weight or what a ton is.

It's rather like Swift, where I work.
Put a certain number of drivers out there, and see what happens.

If male and female came into this line of work in equal numbers, well, it would be interesting to see the stats.

She made a mistake, a costly one but a mistake. If you are worried about how our industry looks because of her, look around and see the crap that takes place every single day that is much worse.

One thing that I've got to say here is if we are going to complain about how she got into the seat, many who have had bad driving records, dui/dwi and reckless driving tickets represent more of a problem on that level than she will ever do.

Furthermore the entire cdl licensing system is way way way too easy, the tests are a joke and the road test is just about basic skills and that barely cuts it in the real world, so let's make it as it should be and remove one more bad element in our industry,

She made a huge mistake. Even if she didn't know weight, her truck was clearly bigger than the bridge. But as far as training, cdl school didn't teach me anything about what a truck weighs. They just said know your truck height and weight and watch signs. Cdl school taught me to pass a test, that is all they are supposed to do. Other things are common sence. If someone had no idea what their truck height and weight are, or how to read signs, they are simply stupid, can't blame that on poor training, school does not teach common sence.

The school teaches to pass the test, real training is where you are to learn . Trained for my last company for three years . Most companies just want another butt in the seat!

That is why at least half the trucking companies have a No Rider policy. Because there is always a chance that you will kill 'em.
