Hi all,
I've just been looking at job postings around western canada and some say "long haul", and "40 hours per week", but are these jobs guaranteed to be over 40 hours per week?, I just can't see a long haul job being only 40 hours per week, thats all.
Is "full time", 40-hours a week, nothing more?

Its gonna be more like double that.

40 hrs a week in this industry is considered part time.long haul pays by the mile.most pay detention while sitting in the dock after so many hrs.
-
Patty, what are you doing up so early?
-
If you only work 40 hours a week you might as well work in a construction job there's no point in spending your life in the truck at 40 hours a week

I'm always up this early.I'm on my second load of laundry.been up since two am.that was a tad but too early but dogs needed to go outside and couldn't get back to sleep so here I am cleaning and doing laundryrachi Thanks this.

Alright, good to know. I figured so.
Yeah, it only makes sense.
So, sorry to be annoying but what makes truck driving "double that" if it's only 40 hours a week (as it claims to be)?. What part of that do you not get paid for?. Thank you all so much for the tips.
I've done previous research on this topic and I only ever hear that your spending hours on the road. But in this situation I am curious about the one job posting where it says 40/week and its apparently more so I just want to see why that is and what your not paid for. Thanks!. -
Are you looking on the government job board/ job boards? All those ads on there say 40 hours a week because there required to put in full time/ part etc so they always say 40 hours a week based on that's full time in the normal world.Captain Canuck Thanks this.

this....
plus, now that the big long haul companies are paying by the hour and paying overtime , they will try to limit the hours to avoid paying the overtime
