That might be the most intelligent response yet in this thread.
But what if that company is still on paper?

I was gonna say it before I read the article but just as it says, what about emergency situations and the need to call 911. I think it's all bs
scottied67 Thanks this. -
I wouldn't mind having one. But i'd put it in a location that i could easily turn it off. When coming up on a accident or what not that would require the use of 911.
I get tired of semi's and cars swerving in front of me. And not keeping speed.str8t10 Thanks this. -
Radar and cell phone jammers are illegal per FCC regulations but laser jammers aren't because those are regulated by the FDA, lol. There are individual state bans on those though.

There is some logical truth to what the company is saying... It is illegal to jam a cell phone yes, however the law isn't written for cases of "accidental" or engineered jamming.
High security facilities have built into their walls something akin to a faraday cage. this passively blocks the signal and because the phone is still capable of receiving signal, it is not considered jammed. That method is a legal method of blocking cellular signal.
Now, I say that as food for thought. For a faraday cage to be effective, it must surround the device on all sides and the device must be grounded on an insulated surface, say the soles of your shoes or a rubber mat.
A partial cage is virtually useless, and a partial cage is all you can achieve in a vehicle due to the windshield and Windows. However, it is important to note that a partial cage would have some, however minor, effect.
If one could make a complete cage around the cab of a vehicle, it's possible to block the cellular signal, simply running wires to an external antenna for the GPS, QC and other on board devices would allow them to continue working unhindered.
*a faraday cage is a simple thing that can be made in any size. It must completely surround the device, be made of a conductive substance such as copper or aluminum, and contain no gaps larger than 1-2cm. -
As a side note... A car can act as a simple faraday cage and is capable, depending upon the vehicle design, of blocking up to 30% of RF signals.
This is especially true of older cars where the shell is primarily of metal, versus fiberglass. -
you can walk in to an old house and not have signal at all.
NavigatorWife and Vilhiem Thank this. -
As a side note... Last few years I think some company came up with a film that goes over glass which blocks most RF signal, if someone knows, then that may be the key.
Funny thing is...all you've gotta do is roll your windows down halfway.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

My aunts old house in Iowa was built in the 1890s had them but they were disconnected and the wiring rerouted. But they were still in the walls.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
