As hysterical as it may have been to watch, at least their "team" managed to get it parked without damage to anything. I have gotten out numerous times to check the blind side, and I am not ashamed of it.

    passingthru69 Thanks this.

Not knocking anybody for getting out & looking, but the level of incompetence I witnessed tells me that driver & his team aren't qualified to be driving a semi on the road or in a parking lot.

Good point; I wonder how their visits with the DOT inspectors go?

Unfortunately therein lies part of the problem...the DOT doesn't give one iota of a $##t about the skills of any driver, only their "Safety Fitness" rating, HOS compliance, and vehicle conformance. Skill, knowledge, and ability do not enter into the equation.

One would think that the insurance companies can and would do a far better job of weeding out the high risk drivers than what the DOT does.

    Great points.

Safety fitness rating is more important than being able to drive the truck.
But, do we really want the government more in the management business than they are already?
I would imagine if the trucking industry set some serious standards, the pay would go up (Sorry could go up) and accidents (could) go down. Walmart some time ago had a min standard of 3 years driving experience (example).

The industry gives way too much control in letting the gov. control drivers and not create standards for driver to actually be able to drive the truck. Go take a 2 day course and get your CDL. What is that all about?? Then when someone gets killed, they want to blame the driver.
