    10. I won’t have to interact with other humans as much as with other jobs.

    9. I’m comfortable in small confined spaces.

    8. I love driving long distances.

    7. I won’t be made fun of for wearing flannel shirts every day.

    6. I won’t have to pay rent or utility bills.

    5. I will be able to at least pretend that I have freedom.

    4. Normal people will keep away from me because everyone hates truckers.

    3. Bikers, Truckers, and other social misfits are my favorite people.

    2. I’ll get to eat while driving.

    1. I’ll finally be able to save for my kid’s college, and a down payment on a house.

    6. rent a box somewhere or you don't get to claim perdiem at the end of the year. I know the meal tax alotment goes away and thats $41.60 a day out the window.

    4. what?????? just yesterday, a hot young honey was talking to me, laughing and giggling and stroking the bulldog on my hood...

"that's so cute, does he have a name??? can I name him for you??? Are you here for overnight????"

why, yes you can, yes I am... and I'm sure hungry, you wanna go grab a bite???

I'm just thinking of the many ways truckers interact with other humans... I do understand your point. But I think sometimes not interacting with humans (as if...) just perpetuates the situation. Makes people focus on what little interaction they do have, and most often in a negative way. Like the 4-wheelers that don't respect the big-rigs on the road. If a person has a general angst against the rest of the population, it's gunna manifest itself, one way or another. Let me tell a story... I was driving a bus when somebody did somethig stupid to cause me grief. I was about to give 'em an ear full when I realized it was somebody I had known from years back. Well I had all but forgot about what had just happened and we just exchanged a quick hello. My point is withdrawl from socialization might just work to the opposite effect. That said, I'm kind of a loner myself and do appreciate what you're saying. Just wonder if we can really be alone. And if we really want to be. Solitude's a wonderful thing, but trying to avoid human interaction... Good luck to all of us.

okay, explain #6 for me. If you dont PAY RENT, or have a houes payment, you cannot claim perdiem, or you have to have a home mailing address (not a po box). Cause that is one of my big things ill like about truck driving. I use to pay $600 before having a (slob) roommate, if i didnt get into trucking, i'd end up living by myself again. But not having to pay rent, is like a bonus $600 check in my pocket every month. What could you do with $7200 a month?

Per diem is essentially the money the gov't lets you have because you are away from home. If your truck is your home, Uncle Sam says you don't get per diem as your "road" expenses have now become household expenses that everyone has. Household expenses are not tax deductible, only business related ie. road expenses.

Yeah, but imho the household expenses would be in addition to road expenses, not in place of...? I don't get that.
