Stupid question I am sure but.....what does getting your own authority mean? Can't you buy your own truck and start rolling?

No you cannot just start rolling.. you have to have operating authority. It means you need a mc/dot number for interstate motor carriers. Read this..

This is NOT aimed at anyone or trying to start anything. It's for new guys that might read this. Giving up a higher % is NOT always a bad thing. Ya have to remember % is just a number of another number. I would rather give up 25% of $4.00/mile vs. 10% of 1.25/ mile. Just an example.

When you find one that is not a scam, let me know and I'll gladly revoke my authority

I think you have your numbers mixed up there ...

    25% of $4 is $1
    10% of $1.25 is $.125

Are you saying you'd rather give up $1 over .12 cents?

Anyone would rather make $3 vs $1.13.
