How else would you see it, just because he's new doesn't mean he can't see things the way they are.

It actually makes a lot of sense because most employees hire seasonal workers for Christmas, and then lay them off afterwords, because if Walmart has 10 cash registers open and only needs 5 open, they are losing all that hourly wage money on their extra employees. Swift on the other hand doesn't do that, because they don't need to do it. The extra drivers that are suddenly not needed just sit there. Or what's more likely to happen, instead of some getting laid off, the work gets divided among all the drivers like food rations.
it doesn't seem too bad though, they definitely have all the power though unfortunately. Definitely have to accept any load or you will sit. -
I'd #### myself if Walmart had 10 registers open. That'd mean they actually care about the customer

Obviously, if it's not your truck then you need permission regardless of what the other guys do, but I think we're past that. Unless you are a recruiter or dispatcher, I am having trouble seeing it any other way. -
Yes the thread went off topic. Oh well. I get the feeling no one really knows where I'm at or what I'm doing most of the time. So I'm just gonna try it one of these times
icsheeple Thanks this. -
Cannon, if you get to your final without a preplan on you and after talking to your DM it looks like it may be awhile before you get a load, tell him you are going to the nearest truck stop and how far that may be. Or if like today when all you have is ECT, call them and let them know you need a load and are going to the nearest truck stop. It's all about communication, let someone know what you are doing and why and there won't be any problems.
On the otherhand, if you were at a truck stop and wanted to go to Walmart to get some supplies or something, you are screwed unless you have one within walking distance. Your best bet is to try to make a quick stop on your route. Company drivers don't have the personal conveyance option, so anytime you drive that truck (far enough to go on the drive line) you are on the clock and just interrupted your break. -
