Not sure. I'm part of the 20% who doesn't.

His point is probably dress for the job. At the same time one could say dress for the job you want, not the job that you have.

What a great name for a ship!
I think I would feel right at home there.

I don't dress up, but I try to be neat and clean. Many don't care about even the basics, it seems.

But I don't get treated like a dirty trucker at shippers or receivers. I'm usually treated pretty well.
Maybe I've just been lucky for the past 5 years? I don't think so.
I think it is because of how I present myself and how I treat them in the first place.

How do I dress for driving a truck? I have at least two sets of steel toe boots that I take with me. I then take an assortment of blue jeans and wear them according to what I will be doing that day. I then pick nicer T-shirts. If I am dealing with someone from the same company as I am or an outside vendor I will then wear my uniform so that I appear to be a professional. Since I am not just a driver but also a mechanic for my work that is where the other blue jeans come in at. If I have to work on my truck or someone else's truck that day I will not wear my nicest pair of jeans. Sunday is always laundry day so I pack enough to last me 9 days worth of traveling without doing laundry. Hope that answers your question. I once wore shorts while driving and I will tell you I am not doing that again. Got sunburned on my left thigh and knee cap.

I have two co-worker on opposite ends of each other. One wears only work supplied uniforms while at work no matter where that is. The other only wears shorts and t-shirts or tank tops depending on where he is. Thing about the guy that wears the shorts and tank tops, he is a body builder and I am not sure who takes more time to get ready in the morning, him or his wife.
