Martin has a censor on all their employees so they went there and aren't allowed to talk about them haha I won't work for a company like that and I won't work for a company that tells me what I can and can't wear I don't dress like a thug but if I wanna wear my cowboy boots I will

I've been with Marten nearly a year. Marten doesn't censor their drivers on the internet, and their dress code must be a secret, cause I've never heard of one.

Got to love the BS that flows like wine around here sometimes.

Just out of curiousity, how long were you with them before you pulled the ejection handle?

I'm still here and he's right. They were good when I first started, but I'm itching to move on.

Dress code does sound iffy, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marten's touchy about online negativity.

When they went to forced per diem in 2009, after a year of offering it optionally, they gave everyone plenty of advance notice then made the change. However, instead of just leaving well enough alone, some idiot decided they should also run a sleazy in-house ad campaign, month after month for a whole year, to try to fool drivers into thinking it was a pay raise ("more pay in your pocket!"). Some drivers took offense at this and retaliated by writing lots of negative things about Marten online (### for tat).

The funny thing is, the 2017 tax bill transformed per diem into a genuinely good thing for drivers...it now truly does let them keep money that would otherwise end up going to Uncle Sam!

Based on everything I've heard, Roger Marten built an awesome company to drive for. Unfortunately he was no longer alive when I started there in 1999. Most of the old-timers had left by then, but many were still there, so I at least got to hear some of the stories about the good ol' days.

I had a great time at marten and would go back to see how it is if I had to. I made great money but I ended up leaving for Estes in 2017 shortly after my last post here. I had an amazing dispatcher at marten.

I had great dispatchers there too. I don't want to rehire, but as you said, if my options were that limited, I would (partly just for the nostalgic aspect).

The detention system is really what I liked. I liked gaming the system. I actually still talk to that old dispatcher from time to time. He always had great loads for me. I miss it from time to time, but the money I make ltl just can't be made there.
