Night driving and staying awake

5 hr energy didn't work for me either but energy bar's have.if I'm tired no matter what I take nothing will work and I won't get a good night sleep in fact I'll feel hung over with what sleep I do get.but if I take something when I'm just a tad but tired then it worked real good.

 

I keep meaning to listen to "drive time french" again...

 

I once pulled over 8miles from the terminal and slept..I simply couldn't go on another mile.(period)
In the morning my boss woke me up w a message..
"Couldn't make 8 more miles"?
I replied.."it may have been my last 8miles"..

He just laughed(former driver) and said "come onto the yard we need that empty trailer"
I said.."ok..on my way"..

 

Lean forward in your seat, place right elbow on the steering wheel and stick your right index finger in your nose. Your arm/finger will work to prop up your head and when your neck muscles relax when nodding off, the pain of your finger in your nose will wake you up again. If you are on a bumpy road or your shocks are worn you won't even reach the nodding off stage.

It works just as well your left arm/finger should you draw blood in the right nostril.

If all else fails..... Buy a pound or two of medjool dates. Snack on them. When 4 wheelers approach with their high beams, spit the seed and aim for the window. Very aerodynamic little things, and loud when they hit!

The only problem is your body is not a robot you cant turn switch and go to sleep. what do you do when dispatcher has you do a 3 hr run then go off duty and you need to change your sleep clock and run all night. Driving for companies that don't care about you have a big toll on your body. note to new drivers Do your 1-2 year with starter company and go to company that cares about you more than the load your under.
