It saved me tonight, I parked at the Wild West, looked for a theater playing The Hateful Eight, but it was a mile walk, but this casino has truck parking and a theater.
Great Movie

It's nice to know Dick Creek Road is better than Franks Creek Road.

Gotta be a super trucker to take that route.

5 years OTR now. I've never used google maps. And very rarely have i been to the same place. And most my trips are california. Where trucks have NO manuverability what so ever.
NavigatorWife, Toomanybikes and Teivel VP Thank this. -
So I guess the majority is wrong. Stupid truck drivers who utilize Google satellite. What is this world coming to?
Somebody award snowwy some sort of award or medal. He's far better then any of us can ever aspire to be.JReding, TLeaHeart, BigCam9670 and 5 others Thank this. -
It is just another tool. Why not use it? It can save a ton of time preventing detours around the block after you find out you approached the place the wrong way, or missed the truck entrance and can't turn around. Sometimes the address is on one street (where the office workers park), but the truck entrance is on another side street. But you already passed it because you didn't know you were there yet. It comes in handy knowing where the docks are from a birdseye view.
I drove truck many years without it, and resisted getting a smartphone for a long time. Not using that tool when it is available is just plain stupid and causes headaches you can easily avoid. If you have a flip phone, I'll give you a pass. But that reminds me of the old-school guy at my company when I started out who refused to get a cell phone because he had always used payphones. Try finding a payphone nowadays. You have no excuse for being stuck in your ways because you haven't even been driving very long.Texnmidwest, tscottme, NavigatorWife and 2 others Thank this. -
I use google maps and sat view all the time, I just wish it was easier to tell what the terrain is really like. I just drove up what felt like 1000 miles of 8% grade and on the sat view everything looks flat...
NavigatorWife and thaistick Thank this. -

I use Apple Maps but it's the same functionality with the satellite views.
I love the "night vision" that a satellite view gives you... Pull up in the middle of the night but you already know what it looks like, from the sky, during the day.
Newbie here and one of my first solo drop was to a place with the address on one street and the truck enterence around the corner on another street, as mentioned above, and yep... I totally pulled into the wrong driveway that ended with a chain link fence... Good thing it was the middle of the night but it was still a bear for this newbie to back that truck out and back onto the road... Since then "satellite view" has been my buddy for sure.
As mentioned above...
It's a tool to be used..
And I use it often at that.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Google Maps/Traffic will tell you if the road is shut down with an hour delay. I can't live without it.
Never leave home without it.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
