They are not pointing cameras at drivers for any other reason than to place libality on the driver and take it off themselves.
Any trucking company that is actively moving so aggressively to place blame on on the drivers is no friend of mine!

Thx for your honest reply. What kind of driving do you do? Are you OTR where you live in your truck or day cab driver? How many years have you been a pro driver?

Could someone post a recap of the starter companies that are using driver facing cameras? I have accepted that a front facing camera is the norm and if the company didn't provide one I would install one myself.

They continuously save n%-seconds of buffered video so when triggered by an event the saved recording includes those 4 buffered seconds in this case.

We have no plans on ever introducing driver-facing cameras however I do think forward facing cameras can be quite beneficial.

Driver facing Cameras will not absolve a Company of the liability of the actions of it's Driver's. It doesn't matter what the Camera shows the Driver doing before or during any accident the Driver is involved in. When a company hires you and puts you behind the steering wheel of one of their trucks, they assume all the liability of the driver's actions and behavior when he's behind the wheel. Driver facing Cameras are just a new form of intimidation and control. I'm waiting for some Driver to file a lawsuit against one of these companies when they tell them you accept the Camera or you will be terminated. That will be the end of non voluntary Driver facing Cameras. It violates the 5th Amendment of the US CONSTITUTION. Probably a few other Amendments as well. Wait till the ACLU gets involved in this.

Martin Transport System aka MTS Not at terminals but adding new ones daily. In daycabs and sleepers not leased trucks.
    All NFI trucks have them.

I work for Con-way, have been driving for 6 years. I spent my first year over the road and then got into LTL. I have a line haul run which is done at night, terminal to terminal.

I'm not sure how the Company is removed from the liability equation? If an at fault incident occurs the Company is still liable right? They can't point the finger at the driver and say "nope, you were asleep and killed those folks, we ain't payin'!" I'm not sure it works that way.......
