I use this one to run my microwave.....been doing great since 2011.
It does connect directly to the batteries.

I've got a printer a 32 in tv that will run off my 450 Coleman inverter and to add a game system to it wouldn't bother it a bit but I've ran directly to the batteries the socket will not handle the load.

Glad to see I am not the only one wondering this. Originally I had a cobra 1500w wired in and my ps3 slim worked fine until one day the red light didn't come on. Works at the house fine. Well I bought one of the power drive inverters from loves. 300w job. Ps3 ran fine, although you had to press the power button about 5 times to get the green light to stay on. Flash forward to Christmas this year, the Mrs surprised me with a brand new ps4. Tried firing it up and while it will power on and load up as soon as you start a game, it powers off. I am thinking of getting one of the bigger power drives and wiring it in. Would it make a difference if I plugged a surge protector into the inverter first then the console, or if I put in something like a usp. Someone suggested that second option to me since the usp would be charged up by the inverter and the console would be drawing power from the usp.

The ups, would have a hard time charging from a 300 watt inverter, if it charged at all

Well I meant after installing a bigger one like a 1000 or 1500. Is that feasible or would my surge protector idea work?
-
1k,or 1500 will run it no problem. Surge protecter is a good idea

I use 300 watt inverter you get at pilot for 30 American dollars. Wouldn't power tv and ps3 through cigarette plug. But did wired to battery. Last driver had inverter so all I had to do was just attach

This what I have installed in the truck, run direct from batteries

I put my 1500W in and purchased an electronics surge protector rated for 2400 joules (highest one they had) no issues with my ps4 and other electronics.
