California- rentals are supposed to enter scales, they hardly ever do though. You see them blow by all the time and nothing is done about it. Pickups/1-tons with flat bed bodies instead of pickup bodies are supposed to go thru the scales here, but they seldom do and nothing is done.

Every open scale unless stated otherwise. I have yet to see a class "c" get pulled over not hitting one or for being overweight but there's always that one officer that wants to teach everyone a lesson. Penske and Ryder will have DOT numbers and are more reliable but U-haul will not. If you get pulled over being overweight they will notice the difference between a Class A and C license and be like "eh, whatever..." I can't see a household move being over gross weight anyway though. When in doubt weigh it and plan routes that suite you. Download an app for rest stops travel centers and hotels that take oversize parking too.

Moved my dad two years ago. Called each of the five states and only Minnesota said it was required, but added we're not going to chase you if you don't. So I didn't.

Besides, if the truck has juice brakes they'd lay under there for days trying to figure out the adjustment. And add to that backing plates!!!!!.........holy hell, we're out in no-man's land now!
bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Could look into throwing it in a pod and putting it on uship or whatnot.
Probably be cheaper for you.
Fly one way first class hire movers for the pod. Still save money.
Seriously get a quote on that xD
