For the last ten years or so, Ive been the copier guy. I fix copiers. Its a very dull job and the pay sucks. I can barely pay the rent or keep the lights on.
I need to be on the road. I need to live in a truck for a while. Id rather go fishin. If it wasnt for my daughter, Id be living way up in Northern Maine where the towns dont even have names. But like I said, my kid needs a hook to hang her roller blades on and as smart as she is, college is definitely in her future.
Changing careers at forty-five-years-old is no walk in the park. Especially rolling the dice on a thing like this. Driving a Big truck might not be as stressful as working 12 hours a day and still not being able to afford rent or food. Itll be nice to keep some of the money I make. Maybe the grass is always greener, but I think you drivers have a good life. No doubt tough, but good.
Top ten reasons why Im gonna love trucking.

zombi,
liked the post.
after noticing your location, attempted to send you a pm (i do not have enough posts). Anyway, i live in wappingers falls. Re-located from FL, at change of the year.
do you mind if i ask, if you know of any trucking schools in the area, or if you can recommend one? At this time, working on selecting one, and from there hopefully find regional work. Ideally, run in the northeast/new england, or statewide.
i wish you best of luck, in this field.

Based on what the guy from my orientation said..........."we make over 1 million decissions per day"
So if we haven't destroyed everything behind us or killed someone I guess we are doing pretty good.............

In my experiance this is by no means a stress free job you will put in lots and lots of long day and hour and will have to deal with tons of very rude and ignorant people, but on the breighter side of it not all are like that The vast majority of the people you will deal with are good people and at least for me the industry has benn very lucerative and the onlt thing I would have changed from way back when is I would have really taken in much more of the views and taken many more pictures for memory sakes
