Have you considered just buying your own truck rather than leasing one from a carrier? There are also leasing companies that will do a lease purchase where you own the truck when you make the last payment. Payments will be less with either of those two options and you can take the truck anywhere you want. You could also work as a company driver and save your money and pay cash in a couple of years. There are other options. You don't need to buy or lease a truck to earn a good living in this business. Many company drivers do very well for themselves and their family.

Have you looked at truck prices and financing costs? My first thought is that this too cheap and they must be still doing the JBH residual.

If you read my post on LP's you will see I am not a conspiracy person. But JBH is a different company since the old man passed away. You will notice why you are there that they change the lease for new people on a regular basis and change the rules of how you run as well. Won't be a big deal until you get a year in then the rules will not line up with your lease but look good for new lease. Another thing to be ready for is to make sure that you come with all of your documents to orientation. They are just like all the companies that will book 3x the drivers they need or expect to have trucks in (and they will say "don't worry, trucks are returned everyday" - that should be your biggest clue) and will look for reasons to send people home.

The price for the truck seems reasonable. Hopefully it is not one of those 1,10 per mile plus fuel surcharge kind of deals, otherwise that surcharge will be your drivers pay

Well that I will see this week but what I was told was it was $260 a week for the term of the lease which will be 36 months I know a lot for a 2007 Freightliner but I have a 90 day bail and if I stick it out in that truck it is mine to do what I want after 36 months but as far as any other costs that I will see when I look at the lease which I will read real good before I sign it. My choice is to work off their load boards which I have checked out and find that there would be enough trips each week as long as I can either drop and hook or I do not get tied up with delays at shippers, So lets hope I have all my ducks in a row.

I know the deal is much higher in cost than if I went and found one at a truck dealer no balloon payment at the end the deal is $260 a week for 36 months I can bail after 90 days with no more cost or stick it out for the term of the lease and at the end I own it to what I want with it which I hope will give me enough as a down payment on a truck I want I will be an O/O and have decided to go for the percentage of the loads I can choose my own loads from their load boards have seen their load boards and can see that I can run some good loads each week if they are drop and hook and I do not get tied up with shippers
