I might be hauling a 32' gooseneck on my trailer. It weighs maybe 8-9k.
Can I secure this like heavy equipment with four chains one on each corner or does it require so many straps for every ten feet like general cargo?

Every 10 feet should do, so ends and middle would be good. You'll never get in trouble for too many

Thanks. I will put four chains one on each corner because that is what makes me comfortable and then I will throw a strap or two over the middle just to satisfy the 10' rule just in case I get a bear in a bad mood. The place it has to go has me going through a scale house so wanted to be sure to be on the up and up.

So, I'm guessing it's a trailer with electric brakes and not air (that can be locked up). If that is the case, I think I'd use the chains over the straps.

Yes electric brakes. A trailer for a pickup.
I was for sure using the four chains because I know that will keep it in place I was mainly just wondering about the 10' stuff and if I needed to add some "look good" straps in the middle.dclerici1 Thanks this. -
When I hauled a side dump last year, I did both. Granted it was over 10k but I also took into account the 10 foot rule. I guess I over secure based on what a lot of people thing but then I rarely get pulled into the inspection either. They must think that if it is secured that good then the driver must take good care of everything.
It does not have to be all chains, you can use straps too. When I picked up the flatbed someone borrowed from us I did not even think about using the straps but I still followed the 10' rule.

Its written that you must have a binder for each set of tires thats touching your trailer
