Sounds like something that should have been in the movie 'Strange Brew'.

"I was the last one left after the nuclear holocaust, eh. The whole world had been destroyed, like U.S. blew up Russia and Russia blew up U.S. Fortunately, I had been offworld at the time. There wasn't much to do. All the bowling alleys had been wrecked. So's I spent most of my time looking for beer." - Bob McKenzie

I am new to the site and I have enjoyed and leared a lot in the time I have been on line. Let's go back to the first of this thread. I have had some experience at HR, so let me throw my two cents in the pot. The question is from a HR view point is ...Will I as a HR person hire this person with 6 DWI's? The answer depends on several factors. First, how much is a liability will the company be gaining if we hire him? Will our insurance company allow the hire? Is his premium going to be more than a non DWI driver? Second, what is the company policy on DWI hires? Third, would I want this person driving a school bus full of kids? In other words as a HR person would I want them driving my kids around? Would I as a HR person want to be partly responsible for any future problems with this employee? Would I be willing to put my job on the line for this person?

These are some strong questions and it apears that the origional poster has had some of the same thoughts as those above questions....other wise he would not be concerned about his background. I take issue with his evaluation that he has had some problems in the past. Those issues are not light hearted in light of his new desire for becoming a truck dirver. It might not matter if he were in another career, but for driving it is a major concern. He knows this or he wouldn't have sought advice from his future peers.

Yes I think people can change. But for the HR person in me it comes down to if I am willing to take a chance with him.

    Biker Thanks this.
