Hello everyone,
I've applied to Averitt Express and was wondering about their DOT physical they do..is it a simple physical test or will you be lifting weights, climbing steps , etc and are they checking your blood pressure every 30 sec.. Or just one blood pressure reading.. Don't want to go to orientation and have to go home if I fail it.. Thanks

I just went through orientation on Monday. You will have to pick up a crate with weights in it that is on a shelf and set it in the floor. Then you put it back on the shelf. You also will stand on a device that measures how much force you can exert by pulling up with you hands. Neither is hard and it is relatively easy. Just make sure you use proper body mechanics. They only read your blood pressure once unless you are like me and it was a little high. I had it taken twice and it was good the second time. If you have 35% bmi or a 17 inch neck you will have a sleep test done. They will give you a device that you sleep with back at the hotel and get the results back while at orientation. If you do have sleep apnea they will give you a cpap machine before you leave orientaion. I needed the sleep test but I did not need the cpap. From my understanding (from one of the other guys that got a cpap machine) Averitt now pays for the machine and you are on your way. I hope that helps.

I also just went through orientation this week. Everything that Erich said is spot on.
Erich Thanks this. -
how much weight was in the crate, and how much did you have to do for the pull up? if I understand correctly there will be a platform with some sort of bar on a pully or something that you pull up parallel to your body to your shoulders?
Rocks Thanks this. -

This is what that pulling thing was like. -

Just squat down and use your legs to pick it up. It's not a big deal.
