Well you know the old saying...."If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, chances are it's a duck!MACK E-6 said:Perhaps, but I'm sure they are VERY few and far between, and too naive to know any better.creeper said:What i don't understand is how yall can have nothing good to say about J.B.Hunt, when there ARE drivers who have worked for them for a long time, and who ARE actually happy working for them.Click to expand...
Hey, we call 'em like we see 'em, and in your case, I see a company plant. If the shoe fits...Yall ever think about changing the name of this website from "the truckers report" to "Lets all badmouth J.B.Hunt" .com???Click to expand...Click to expand... -
Well, before i leave this website for good, i'm just gonna say, first- i am not a "company plant" i originally joined this site for a way to kill time and B.S. with other drivers. Second- i never said that i am 100% satisfied with working for them, i do HATE their hometime policies, and i HAVE been looking for a company with better hometime. I've even posted on here before about my want to get into a flatbed company. But i was just stating that J.B. hasn't screwed me over like so many of yall, and in hanging around our terminals, i HAVE come across many drivers that like driving for J.B. But, hey think what you want about me, i really dont give a ####, cause at the end of the day i know i got a warm bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, a meal in my stomach, and a wad of cash in my pocket. and isn't that all that counts????

Creeper, if you are not a plant I apologize. However I see that when you first joined this forum you stated you were 23 and single. Well maybe what you get paid from JBH is enough for you but when you have a family of 5 to support and only bring home $66.00 or have a -$54.00 week you would see things differently. Anyway, if you see this post before you leave us for good, I hear Arrow Transport is a good company and they have flatbeds. Good Luck.creeper said:Well, before i leave this website for good, i'm just gonna say, first- i am not a "company plant" i originally joined this site for a way to kill time and B.S. with other drivers. If I was wrong, then I apologize as well, but why the sudden change of attitude?

While certainly this driver isn't a glowing representative of the company, this type of driver is not exclusive only to JBH (trust me I do not love this company). I know this probably happened all to fast for you but if you caught a trailer number, tractor number or even have about the time this occurred I would call JBH and ask for their safety department and give them an account of the incident. The truck has an On Board Computer and companies pretty much know where their drivers are and I bet they can narrow it down or even pin point who the person was. Try to keep calm and refrain from the colorful (but understandable) pharsing.onemadmomma! said:[Post deleted by TurboTrucker. I honestly do not believe all JB Hunt drivers would do that. I kinda know the rules about sharing the road with truckers. This one driver must have just thought that he could have the road. I know his truck is way bigger than my mountaineer, the point was proven when we almost hit head on. I was trying to back up but was in the middle of the road and wanted to be able to make sure someone else hadn't pulled behind me so I didnt' hit them. He didnt give me time he punched the gas at least 3 times and came with in at least 2 feet of hitting me. Oh believe me I called my brother before I even posted this morning and he called made a couple of calls.
I believe most of you all out there are good if not great drivers who are working very very hard and away from home a lot, but that still don't mean some can be butt holes
-
No arguement here. Buttholes are not limited to cars, some drive buses as well. I guess that's why my mother use to tell me that when you drive you have to have eyes in the back of your head. Always have to assume that the other drivers will do something stupid and be ready to react. Glad to hear there was no collison between you and the truck. Lots of luck with your pregnancy.onemadmomma! said:I honestly do not believe all JB Hunt drivers would do that. I kinda know the rules about sharing the road with truckers. Let me size it up like this:creeper said:What i don't understand is how yall can have nothing good to say about J.B.Hunt, when there ARE drivers who have worked for them for a long time, and who ARE actually happy working for them. Without question, there would HAVE to be some that like working there, and they may have been there for years. Otherwise, they would have folded a long time ago.
But...that is not enough to steer people their way, and it never will be. When the overall picture is evaluated for it's artistic value, JB Hunt does not offer the kind of long term prospects for people signing on with them in any capacity, in order to make the risk worthwhile.
JB Hunt's lease/purchase program is a complete rip-off, and the complaints are rolling in.
Their recruiters are currently engaged in a contest to see who can tell the biggest whopper to a potential driver, and their goal is not to match drivers to the company. Their goal is to obtain as many warm bodies to fill empty seats as they can muster up.
Drivers that are led to believe that they have been hired for dedicated positions, more often than not, find that the promised positions are not there, and are forced to take OTR positions that they did not want.
Those are the three biggest and oft repeated complaints about the company, and after reading those, what else is appealing about them?
Considering that Craig Harper is advertising consistently on two of those things, and they are a complete farce, then I say that bashing JB Hunt is fair game. They deserve it.
When they clean up their act, then they might find that they are not under such scrutiny. Until then....I say screw 'em. I'd rather see 'em belly up, than to see another driver subjected to being lied to again.
The games they are playing is affecting the lives of people that are trying to feed their families and to pay their bills. Personally, I'd like to see Craig Harper getting a taste of the manure that he shovels out on the radio. It wouldn't be so savory if he had to eat some of it. -
You've got a lot of mouth, Turbo, but not may brains.
To begin with, the fuel surcharge is 24cpm and JB Hunt gives steeper discounts on fuel than almost any other carrier out there.
The 5 cpm deduction for maintenance goes into an interest bearing account that is set up to help the driver pay for any repairs to the truck that may not be covered by the warranty, although that money is available to the driver at any time for any reason or no reason. That account, by the way, pays the same interest as a 9 year CD, between 3 and 7 percent!! When the driver pays off the truck or terminates the lease, the money in that account goes with him.
The fuel tax you mention, which you obviously know nothing about, is a penny use tax that is levied by every state a truck is permitted to drive through and is based on its miles driven in that particular state. It is a major pain in the ### to keep up with. JB Hunt, as a courtesy to the lease-purchase drivers, holds out a penny a mile and pays these states quarterly (some charge less than a penny per mile) and refunds the difference to the driver.
You are really down on this program. Tell me, where else can you get into a nearly new truck for no money down, no credit check, and no start up costs? JB Hunt does all of that for the drivers. They have most of their expenses paid....base plates, permits, scale tickets, tolls, all paid at no cost to the driver. They receive huge discounts on fuel, tires, maintenance, and insurance. They also have health, dental, vison, life and prescription drug coverage available to them and extremely low rates.
So where did you get your bad info, Turbo? If you or anybody else wants to get the real facts, give me a call. I will be delighted to give it to you in black and white.
