Noticed a recruiting banner for Tri Color on the fence at the Knight Katy, TX terminal yesterday when I drove by. I'm no lawyer but I thought a Mexico based carrier had to be 51% owned by a Mexican citizen?

-Hola me casa you casa el grande nacho!joseph1135 and ShortBusKid Thank this. -
Yeah, they are really trying to hide that they aren't Knight Transportation. Let's just photoshop us some new logos on our trailers and not say Knight Transportation in our ads anywhere!ShortBusKid Thanks this. -
Most likely it's a partnership set up by Knight able to hook up to the trailers dropped in San Isidro or Milo drop yards and scoot them across the border. All U.S. trucking firms offering service in Mexico do so through a partnership with a Mexican Trucking firm. There is the whole NAFTA border commercial zone then you get into the 144hr, 72hr, and 24hr operational permits. It just becomes a huge mess. There is a lot of 'good intentions' and 'feel good politics' involved with the cross-border trade initiative. Of course the road to ruin is paved with good intentions as well.
Insurance costs make it cost prohibitive for me to enter Mexico - something to do with all that crime and corruption down south of the border. -
Transportes Tricolor and Knight Transportation are the same company. Tricolor is the bilingual represantation within the company. All of the Tricolor drivers must meet the DOT requirements and have a CDL class A. Tricolor does not operate in Mexico, only in the 48 states. All of the drivers are bilingual and not only from Mexican decent, but from all Hispanic heritages. This is not a company that Knight bought or merged with, this is Knight reaching out to a different cultures and offering those drivers a driving opportunity.

It may be sneered at, with the amount of non "anglo or african" americans on the road, but it is still a legal requirement.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
