Ask any TMC driver about hauling for Lowes and what those loads look like. That would be my nightmare.

I'm only looking to be otr till summer anyways so I'm not to worried about twic. If I need the escort the company pays for it. I was just commenting on how rediculous and security theater the whole thing is.

For the 150 bucks it costs, it would make your life easier. And trust me, if there are two loads and one truck, the man with the TWIC will get call first. The company may pay for it, but they don't want to have that expense unnecessarily.

I drove for Maverick.... first for their flatbed div and then for their reefer div. I could see the appeal for some to flatbedding as you get some exercise and physical workout. But I'll tell you what... securing and tarping a load in a downpour of rain or during a subzero snowstorm and that process can take an hour or two depending on the load and your experience doing it. It only took a few of those and I was OUTTA THERE! Extreme summer heat is just about as bad. I also pulled oversized loads for ATS and that wasn't much better although it did eliminate the tarping. I'm happy just getting out, opening my doors, backing up to the dock, feeling the dock crew unload my truck from the comfort of my bunk, pulling forward, closing my doors and LEAVING! If it's raining, snowing, freezing cold, or blistering heat.... I endure it for about 5 minutes. Reefer is a different animal as well since you have to put up with the reefer unit noise and mostly driving at night.
