Do you have tanker/hazmat endorsements; maybe haul fuel locally.
    Sapp Bros. Inc.
That 3 mos. experience you already have carries lots of weight believe it or not.

    Djfan Thanks this.

I can understand but there are a lot of large companies. Just wondering if you are at small mom and pop or a large mega carrier. If you still cant answer ok.

That's good.things like this no amount of money is worth it.glad your boss is understanding where you're coming from.companies like this doesn't believe in routine maintenance till something major happens the they re paying twice as much to get it fixed.how often does your boss have p.m. done on his trucks?

It may suck now, but you'll be better off in the long run. You made the right decision.

Next thing you need is a new job.

For future reference new drivers... in this situation or ANY situation where the equipment will not pass a pretrip you need to fill out a DVIR and get the mechanic to sign off on it before you pull out.

Some things you can live with for a day or so (the same laws apply so you'll run at your own risk of a ticket)... but a fifth wheel issue is NOT one of those things.

Ask yourself, would you run that truck and trailer alongside a busload of school kids? If the answer is no... stand your ground and get it fixed. Period.

As you can see from the OP standing up to the folks who sign your check can be scary, but the law is on your side. As are we- veteran drivers will back you up every time. Stay safe at all costs. :)

    Peace and Love
