Where's Joseph when you need him? Your partner was passing another truck on icy roads. Joseph took some pictures a few weeks back on that icy roads in Wyoming thread. He did a really good job showing the proper following distance on slick roads. If he couldn't see the po po because he was passing another truck, he was following too close. In bad weather, you only pass on the straights.
How fast was he going? If you run the minimum speed limit on icy roads, you will be able to stop without touching your brakes.
Another bonehead wipes out. Makes no difference if the cop was moving or not.Last edited: Jan 10, 2016
Blackshack46 and tinytim Thank this. -
We were taken to the nearest freightliner dealer, but the boss decided to send the company mechanic to us to get us rolling(there was damage to the steering column in addition to the normal cosmetics). We were there for three days when he showed up and the dealer did not have all the parts needed and drove a rental car 2 additional hours each direction to get the parts. Props to him for crossing a time zone to get to us, but I think it was to keep the costs from hitting the insurance..... Even then, the repairs are not complete.

I was just gong to make a thread about this. I saw one tonight I was mind blown to actually see a red c.r England western star. That thing was a beauty it had to be brand new coming from the south because donner the last two days has been a mess and we've had rain in sac late last night to this morning. It was really weird seeing a England truck as a WS I assume lease operators.

Just out of curiosity, if the trainer was passing another truck he would be in the left lane right? How did he hit a po po on the shoulder? Was the cop on the left shoulder or was the trainer passing a truck on the right?

We moved from the right hand lane out from behind another truck in an attempt to pass on the left. Sitting in the passenger seat, I saw flashing lights in the lane before we moved into it, but the vehicle appeared to be in motion in the left lane. By the time we learned that a) the vehicle was not in motion and b) it was a squad car, no action would have prevented a collision.
Since I saw the flashing lights when I did, had I been driving, THAT'S when I would have slowed down until determining the actual situation. The fact that we were closing the following distance, was an indication that we were likely going too fast for for conditions.
I have been assured that, since I was not behind the wheel, I would not be reprimanded(?)... We are heading back to the yard after getting unloaded and we will know for sure.
