My opinion no. Not a walmart. Not considered secure. RV storage lot something like that. Likely at some point to be under load duriong hometime.
@gentleroger can give a better answer as to location requirements.
Schneider's training process??

Ok thanks for the info..
-
No I'm not. Certainly hope not a driver expense. I don't mind the black shirts a long as the company foot the bill for them. Another question I'll shoot to the recruiter. Thanks for and any other heads-up you'd like to share. Sounds like you may have been there done that...
-
Actually I want to run flatbed... have experience, but seems to be a bit tougher to get into without the, "call us after you have recent milage" speak. Heavy haul is where I'd like to progress. But dang, I'll pul almost anything all long as no render loads and the such. Tanker at some point if I can get on frac sand hauling.

Where do you live???
-
I have a small ranch and can't get a commitment from them as to wether or not I can park here. Truck would certainly be secure and would avoid a long commute into the big H town!! I'm told that needs to be worked out with my DM when the time comes.

Texas between H Town and Austin.
-
Have you looked into any other companies???
-
I was told the same but in a way it be some relief if I knew for sure that the truck was at my house and I could just roll in and out when it comes time to go home
-
Yes sir I sure have. There are companies that I picked up a bad vide from to the point it could be bad juju for me get behind their wheel. There are other companies that are prepared to bring me on but then the whole training process is drawn out with less pay during and after truck assignment.
I don't necessarily trust recruiters, as they are more about cycling bodies so they can get paid. CRE offered me trainers position after 90 days. Hmmm... very suspect. Bottom line is, the companies that will take me will start me like a brand new newer than newbie with covered by dust compensation. I used an outside recruiter which helped tremendously. I would not have received the same consideration going direct with Schneider. I did try that initially.
Schneider stepped up willing to consider my experience, albeit is [outdated], better starting compensation, truncated orientation/training. For that I am grateful. There are other companies I'd rather start with or so I think. However, my circumstances limit viable options open to someone like me. In one respect the carriers are starving for quality drivers, but then regulations and insurance companies kinda put the screws to all parties concerned. Carriers have huge investment across the board which stands to reason that they are compelled to protect that.
With the so-called shortage of drivers in the tens-of-thousands, one would think it'd be easier for a further back experience (more than 5 years) driver to get on...
