Yeah, I don't know how FedEX kept that upright.

It's not a wreck without CRST. Saw some of the footage from the other one on 70 and it looked like they really hit hard. And if it was the same guy CRST may be the only company crazy enough to keep him.

Someone from CRST should comment on whether their planners are giving them loads with no time to slow down. Bad planners causing them to risk it.

I got a picture from safety today. One of our truck was cut in half. Behind that brown container. Scary stuff

IMO there is always time to stop or slow down with a load. Drivers need to grow a pair & quit letting dispatch bully them to drive when it is not safe or make an appt time no matter what. When dispatch argued with me about shutting down I would only argue so long before I hung up & did what I thought was safe!! Never had a bit of trouble from anyone in the co for doing so. As stated here many times you are the captain of your "ship", You decide what the safest decision is. The co will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat should something happen.

I don't think it's that they're being bullied. I think it's more likely that company drivers have a reward system when they are on time for pick ups or deliveries. If they are in a rush because of bad planning on their part then they will take chances. If a planner sets up a load that's due asap and he accepts it, thinking he won't hit traffic, but he does, then then he'll become a risky driver.

I say the drivers speeding and driving too fast for conditions in road construction, cities and bad weather , have plenty of time to kill on the load, no pressure from dispatch, they just want to run foot on the floor.

I remember one time in a 4wheeler, I was following a plowed lane and then suddenly the path went off the road and I was in 4" of fresh powder.

Apparently the plow trucks stopped for coffee at an all night diner at that exit. If you were going further down the highway? F you!

Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes. A new Swift driver was facing his first winter, and he was nervous. After a big snow he was hesitant to try his luck but was under a load and his delivery time was approaching fast. He called dispatch for advice, and was told to get behind a plow and follow it.

The Swifty did what he was told, and when a plow truck went by he threw his truck in gear and pulled out behind it. Things went pretty well, and after about an hour Swift was starting to relax a little. Then a voice came in over the cb.

"You doing all right back there driver?"

"Sure thing, man," Swift replied. "I appreciate you letting me tag along behind you."

"Well," the plow driver came back, "I'm done with this Wal Mart lot now. Let's head over and do the Sears next."
