My cousin had a fake business degree from a 4 yr. college with transcripts and his first job was in upper management in a textile mill. He did that until he retired with a nice pension.
Not bad for a returning Vietnam vet, 101st Airborne, infantry.

I dropped out in 11th grade back in 1997.
On job applications between then and 2007 I always put down that I had a HS diploma (which was a lie). What happened in 2007?
I applied to Comcast as a Communication Technician and went through the hiring process like normal and was almost hired until they ran a background check and found out I was full of ####. At that point, I spent a day or two studying up on the GED requirements and then took the test. Passed it in the 96th - 98th percentile in all 5 areas.
In the years since, however, I have marked the "GED / Diploma" box on applications and my GED is listed under the education heading on my resume as well. Not one company has ever asked me for proof of it but that doesn't mean they aren't running a background check to verify the information, just that I have never personally been asked to produce a copy. The only time I had to produce the GED and/or results was last month when I enrolled at the University of New Mexico in the IT undergrad program, but outside of college, I haven't had to prove anything.
CDL schools couldn't care less about your education - they only care about the money. On the other hand, some companies do care, but overall the chances of a trucking company, even a "mega", actually bothering to check to see if you have a HS diploma or GED are slim at best but you would still be doing yourself a favor in the long run by obtaining it. I know when I got my GED at 27, I thought I was too old and it would be useless. Now, almost 10 years later, I'm a 35 year old college freshman that's trying to get out of the trucking industry after almost 10 years and I couldn't do that that without the GED behind me in the first place.
Regardless of whether or not any company checks, do it for yourself and be proud that you have itbottomdumpin and ajohnson Thank this. -
I will be. Even if the company were to never check I'd still go get it for myself.
Thank you all for your insight on the subject. It was much appreciated.
