Hey all....I need your opinion on my bed.
I am scheduled to haul my heaviest load yet (on this truck anyways)....30k.
It is 24' feet long plates....so my entire bed and dang close to my max weight.
By looking at my truck/axle layout.....do you guys think this will scale OK?
It will be 30k spread over the entire bed length AND width.
I have done a tad over 25k and it felt fine and scaled with no issues...
This is the best shot I have of the side of my truck....but a tad of bed is missing on the back.![]()
Opinions from flatbed guys....

Do you recall your scale weights at 25,000#? If so, then you have a pretty good idea of what another 5,000# will be. If not, do you know your tare weight on that truck? There's several ways to figure it out, but I would think that you'd be fine.
Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
My empty weight with maybe 70 gallons of fuel was 22k on one scale (steel shipper) and 20 on another (local stone yard)....:/.
It turns out this load is going to be 27k so no worries now! Well other than I am gonna be dang slow through the Appalachians! -
Be a good idea to scale your truck on a cat scale empty, see what your steer carries empty and what your drives do. Least as a starting point.
Also how long is your body?Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
Yea I am going to hit the pilot by my house on 611 tonight....scale it with full tanks...

From Los Angeles CA so never seen crap weather...mint and clean in and out!clausland Thanks this. -
24 ft bed? Do they give you 34k on the drives? The problem I see is that your drives are near the center of the bed. Almost half the load will be rear of the drives. My gut tells me that you will be heavy on the drives. I can't see your drives being under 34k.Mattflat362 Thanks this.

Rgr that, it looks real clean....I guess Cali's good for something after all, ha......I've got an '86 362 I'm restoring....Where do get your parts?....Any trouble finding any?...
Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
I found out more about the 27k load. It is 3 big thick plates of steel.....1 big,1 smaller, 1 smaller yet. So I will be able to stack them where I want. I'll keep the overhang for the big 24' plate only and then position the other 2 more forward.
