Probably every company hires from Roadmaster. It's too expensive though. Plenty of cheap schools in Ohio; Google to find them.
What type trucking are you interested in? There's big bucks and easy work in tankers; living in Ohio several companies will hire you.
    What do you want?

China, I've seen you comment on the tanker part of trucking quite a bit... When you get a moment, would you dive a little into the typical yearly pay (for inexperienced and those with some years under their belt) and the work itself (what makes it easy)? Kind of an overview. Are there any threads (that you know of) that you could link to as well. Just curious. Thx.

I did a fair amount of research on private schools and only found one that I would never consider; it was Roadmaster. I try to be careful when I read certain things on the internet, but I read so many horror stories about Roadmaster that I could never have the confidence they would do what they say.

Now that Roadmaster was bought out by Werner, maybe that has or will change, but if it were me I would let someone else kick the tires on that heap first.

GolfPro just started a thread about this. He's a new CDL grad and now in tanker training with CTL Transportation in Tampa,FL. @GolfPro @ethos
As for pay can make easy $60K for a new driver and with 24 mos. experience good chance to make over $100K.
The hardest part of tanker work is dragging a hose out of the hose rack/tray on the trailer and hooking it up to unload. Then take about an hour to unload, put the hose back in the rack/tray and hit the road again.

Thx!... Tankers usually go home every night or is it an 'out for the week' thing? I assume they put in their 70 hours/wk. too.

Depends; I ran 48 states because that's what I prefer. Sure there's local and regional.

Agreed on too expensive. OP your alternatives are Clark State CC in Springfield and Southern State CC in Wilmington.

Hey doglover, I graduated from Roadmaster in Columbus last May. Good school, but you have to put the work in. They will teach you everything that you need to know to get your CDL as long as you do your part. The people that fail there are the ones that don't practice the pre-trip or backing maneuvers every chance that you get, good luck, and you don't have to commit to Werner to go there either, but they will push them. Just eat the free pizza and go wherever you want to.
