With all the hype about mandatory E-Logs how many of you drivers will leave the industry?

That's a log book app, not the same as a elogs like in the new mandate, the be legal under the mandate it has to get input from the ecm. You are a running a log book program on a electronic device, big difference

I am... I am also do heavy haul, fuel, mobile home placement ( I have crawlers ) I was recently an oiler for a crane operator because I was thinking about being a crane operator (thats a young mans game and Im old). Im a bit of a prostitute when it comes to my bank account, I don't care where the money comes from, Im not going to do a job tomorrow that pays less than I could be making doing something else. If you have an ability to be good at several things, why only do one?

Well that does suck. Company's will have to ungovern the trucks just to get an edge. Everyone will be in a hurry. I'm already in a hurry and can't imagine how much more of a hurry I'll be in. I'm flatbed paid by percentage and try and jam as many loads as I can Monday to Friday so I can get home on the weekend. This sucks.

I have to wonder how reefer co's (like the one I work for) are going to handle this e-log business. Anyone who runs reefer knows what I'm talking about. It's nothing to sit 5-8 hours at a cooler. It's going to come down to paying drivers hourly or a day rate or no one will drive reefer as a co. driver. If we are going to have e-logs (a time clock basically) crammed down our throats, then we need to be paid like regular workers vs the exploitative mileage pay from the 30's..
