I live close to a town called Morehead

I think that parallel parking is some BS the DOT came up with trying to derail some peoples careers. I've never heard of such a ridiculous thing until recently. Only time I ever did it was when the truck stops were full late at night and had to park on the street and that was rare.bottomdumpin Thanks this.

You know Tyson foods hires out of there right ? You would make great money, and they do hire students now ..

You're not far from that guy that won the lottery a few years ago. Remember him? Just out of prison and hit the lottery for $40 million. Blew it on a mansion in Palm Beach, FL and a Lear Jet, 3 collectors cars, then went back to Kentucky broke and died in hospice care.bottomdumpin Thanks this.

Yes, check Tyson and the others mentioned. Shop around.

have trouble 18th the backing
What is '18th the backing'?
A golfing thing?
18 is the last hole, but has nothing to do with a hole in one.
If you can't get it in the first try, get out and look.
Line it up properly, with as many pull ups as you need. It isn't the CDL test.
And, get out and look at least once. If you don't you will probably be gone.
If you didn't set up properly that first time and can't get the right angle, pull out and go around for another try.
Your road test in orientation is really looking at how you handle any given situation.
In my road test the (second to) last turn was onto a narrow two lane road with heavy traffic.
I needed both lanes to make the turn if I wanted to avoid curbing the tandems.
So I waited several minutes, with traffic blocked in the lane behind me for all that time, until I could do it safely.
I FORCED myself to just be patient, all the while thinking that I would be flunked out for sitting there blocking traffic.
I made that turn when I thought it was safe, and then back in to the terminal.
The instructor told me later that many had been failed because they didn't do what I did - wait until it was safe.
They curbed the tires and were sent home.
That corner got probably 20% on any given day.
Backing is the same thing, only more.
You can't try to rush it, and you can't try to fix it.
I am better at backing after 5 years out here. Most times I get it in just fine.
But then there are times when I either didn't set it up properly or there simply isn't the space to work with.
(The space to work with thing may just be my level of experience.)
In such cases one has to simply give up on the current attempt. Go around and try to set it up better, or find an easier spot to back in to.
The thing is... even if you are frustrated, you can't get impatient.
You have to THINK!
!!!
If you don't, you will feel the crunch of your truck impacting something else.fjrgerry, Bob Dobalina and bottomdumpin Thank this. -
1 and 8 are near W and I on the keyboard. My detective skills determined that he was saying "with the backing" and that he didn't proofread.

I almost forgot, look into MAST Trucking out of Millersburg OH.. I remember when I started driving they required 5 years ; now they hire students apparently, but from how their program looks it would require you to hang around Millersburg for 4 weeks .

How did/do you like Schneider? That's one of the top companies I'm considering.
