I was 6 weeks. First trainer was a great driver, person, clean, etc... but we ran team from day one. My first day in his truck he drove us out of Dallas and I drove to Oklahoma in a driving rain and thunderstorm rain so hard the wipers barely helped. Then team ran to Laredo then teamed back to chicago! Cant remember where after but same story. He yelled at dispatch and they took him off of training program for being a bad influence. Truthfully wasnt a good trainer just wanted miles and trainer pay.
Next trainer was a racist prick and I just shut my mouth and listened as little as possible. That was a dedicated route. Dallas to Reno then over the pass to Cali then down to LA back to Dallas. I learned a lot and got good snow experience. -
There is no room in the trainer/student situation for racism or sexism. A good friend of mine that now drives for Crete had an issue with his first trainer whom was female. They got into a horrible cuss fight over a dang seatbelt and she up and hit the breaks and drove him into the windshield with such force it busted it. He physically forced her to stop and he got out of the truck. What happened next I won't reveal. This happened on the New York Throughway near Buffalo. The company later fired both of them and my friend later filed a lawsuit and recovered $2500 from her and $25,000 from the company.

A trainer should be a driver with a min, of 5 years or 500,000 safe miles. And with that you could leave it up to the trainer. Who should be paid a salary so they dont push or cut corners with the training.

Yeah it was rough with the first guy because there was no assistance or advice until we got within 10 miles or so. He just wanted the money. They are suppused to run like a solo truck.
The next guy was just nonstop daily racial comments. Why white people hated OJ, white people live on high mountains to look for cops, white people put crack into black neighborhoods, those are about one days worth out of 3 week uuggghhhh but didnt want to have another trainer. This guy was a great driver and clean so put up with it. Taught me how to throw chains too -
Most of the job can be handled with common sense unfortunately a large portion of society lacks that. I just watched a video on youtube of a major accident on i80 that involved about 40 or or so trucks. It was snowing hard with white out conditions and the roads were bad. All you saw was these trucks going way too fast for those conditions and smashing right into each other. It was a real heart pounding video to watch. Me... the guy with the common sense would have never drivin in white out conditions with roads that bad.

There are no brakes that can break a seatbelt simply by applying it.
Unless the belt or mount was defective in the first place.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 18, 2016

Think he was implying the trainee didnt want to put the belt on, so the trainer brake checked him into the glass...... dunno tho, i wasnt thereLast edited by a moderator: Jan 18, 2016

No he did not have the seatbelt on, this is the reason for the fight to start with. As to the 2nd paragraph I just choose to ignore it.
