I drove for Werner from 1985 until 2001. Back then, when I walked into the terminal, everybody knew who you were and I even had the opportunity to sit down with Clarence and Greg Werner on more than one occasion. They were a great company at one time but they continued to spiral down to where you were just a number and so I parted ways. Long story but back in April of 2013, I decided to go back to Werner until I decided what I was going to do next. I picked the Dollar General account so I could get some free exercise. I also paid good money to have an AC inverter professionally installed so that I could avoid fast food. Werner made me take it out. After all the years that I spent with them it made absolutely no difference and I apparently forgot why I left them in the first place. I was there until July when I started moving piggybacks.

The big name companies treat you like a number and are nothing more than a gateway to your first couple years of experience needed in order to latch on to a better company.

Werner is just another piece of lead added to the trucking industry ankle...as it slowing sinks to the bottom...

Buddy, when a mom & pop sit with big bank for more credit to grow their business, they begin to lose control of who works for them. They bring on new business models that make all the bottom people expendable. You got to let it go, buddy.

It might change for the better. From what I've heard about a month ago ol Clarence is coming out of retirement to get his house back in order by "cleaning house"!o_O

The things is a lot of trucking companies weren't who they were 31 yeas ago (when you started) or even 16 years ago when you quit. Apparently someone didn't do their googles, it's well known how bad Werner treats their drivers..

Don't hold your breadth. That rumor was floating around back in 2002 when Greg was pretty much running things. Clarence has made his money and is enjoying his retirement.
