Are we allowed to give E-Mail addresses? I'm working on a way to post the page of patterns. I can't post it as text, I think I can photograph the page and post the picture.

If you don't have enough posts to private message, then contact one of the staff here to help you pass the information on. You cannot post personal information in threads here. Its for your own protection, since it is a public forum. :biggrin_25525:

Gotchya thanks again! Forum rules say you have to post 50 times to be able to send IM's. Guess that is to help prevent SPAM etc.

But a person ends up cluttering up the airwaves like this with useless posts just to get the count up to fifty. Like this one.

I don't know how you got so lucky but every company I've been at always drops the responsibility back on the driver. Plus the FMCSR says you can't move the vehicle unless you're legal. Maybe it doesn't go on your DMV record, I always thought when you get a ticket that clearly violates the law it would show up. I've had a spotless record for over 20 years so you may be right because I've never had to deal with it. But I do know some drivers that had to pay the fines and they weren't O/O's. In the gasoline tanker business you're completely responsible because you're doing the loading and every company that I've had dealings with always say that any over weight tickets will bare on the driver. And if you get a couple of them you're fired.

You're right about knowing what your trucks weighs. You just have to weigh the truck with a full tank of fuel and you in it. And you can allow 400lbs over on gross if you have a APU. For the drivers that change trucks all the time after awhile you're find out that there's not that much difference if they're running the same set-up. But like most here are saying you dodn't need to scale every load unless you think you might be close. If you're loading fluff then you're wasting your time and money.

The 400 lbs for APU is not yet valid for every state.

Are APU's common in the bigger company trucks? I would figure they would be since idling is either too costly or illegal or both!! How many states do you estimate aren't allowing the 400lbs?

APU's are not that common in the bigger companies yet. There are some that have them in all of their trucks, but for most it is just a dream.

As far as the exemption, I have never looked into it. I just remember reading about Nebraska recently okaying it, but none of the states that border it will.
