A crisis is where some of the money in the fund is being spent. Walking and biking paths and planting bushes and trees along said paths is NOT transportation dollars well spent (my township in Cincinnati spent over 2 million dollars on a fricking concrete biking and walking path that goes about 4 total miles). I'm not saying that it's not good for the community, but Jenny Craig would be, also. I find it most irritating because less than 5 miles away is a 5 mile path maintained by a local airport. Not smart money...

Sending the money in the fund to other things, schools and the like, is also WRONG. It should be spent for what it's intended for and that's it. If it was, then we wouldn't be facing a crisis.

Sometimes I think that the government should be run more like a business w/ more transparency, more accountability and more common sense. We could hire the best and the brightest, get rid of the earmark kings/queens and things would probably get better.

The fact that I can be on the phone with the hubby and hear him on a rough patch of interstate that rattles the truck enough to make it sound like he's been in a crash is unnerving.
