So I decided on Schneider. Orientation begins Tuesday, 1/26 in Dallas. I have a number of opportunities open to me and some real BS to deal with. SNI seems the best for my criteria.
I've been out of the industry for while and eager to get back rolling again. So I'm entering the industry again. Being considered experienced having to go 18 days orientation/training, which I certainly welcome, I'll update as things progress from my perspective. I've read many of the same basic messages reposted over and again by new and experienced prospects alike. I'll be able to share from a Texas perspective.
Decided To Go Schneider

Are you going as company driver o/o?
-
Schneider's OTR portion of their training program is only one week or less which is just stupid. If you already have experience it's probably OK depending on how long it's been since you've driven.
-
I thought SNI only will take you after getting a refresher or something?
-
18 days will fly by.......the road part is anywhere from 4-7 days depending on the trainer and what he has to do.
welcome -
Best of luck to you.

I'm joining as a company driver until I clock enough miles. O/O is ultimate plan.
The 18 days is SNI's refresher for someone with my past experience. If I didn't have have required taking an outside refresher course. I'm looking forward to it. Make no mistake, I have no dilutions towards the lifestyle. I will not be cavalier enough to say driving is like riding a bicycle. Things like backing, overall awareness inside/outside the cab and around not to mention adjustment to depth perception and much more.
As in all things I commit to, I'll give it my all... this time I'm back in for the long haul!
Thanks for the welcome and good will. -
Welcome, you will find that, like most other industries, technology has changed a lot of things. Schneider is one of the tech- savvy trucking companies. DFW is a big market for SNI, lots of opportunities on the dedicated side of operations.

Here in Dallas preparing for a good night slumber to begin day one of SNI orientation.Hopefully I will be able to help others who ate on the fence or signed up not sure what to expect. Stay tuned, more to come...
