Thanks for doing this Touk, I've been eyeballing them for a while now. They have a Terminal In AL that's not to far from me. Let us know.

Last day of orientation done! Passed the test, and completed all tasks for the week. Next 2 weeks, hands-on with a trainer then on my own.
Great company, and definitely a place people need to put serious consideration into if you want a driver friendly operation.
Be safe everyone,

Do you know if they let yuo take the trucks home or do you have to park it at a teminal and drive your personal ?
I ask because I live about 3-4 hours from a terminal and the recruter was kinda vague when I asked. -
You'd have to ask a terminal manager that one. I was told, because I asked too, with me being a system driver that whenever I want home time to let them know and they'll get me through the house, or if I had an emergency. Never once did they flat out say I couldn't take the truck home. I only have a motorcycle as personal transportation and live over 2hrs from the terminal. He said it wouldn't be an issue especially since I have enough real estate to park it on my property.
So, screwy answers yes but they'll work with ya on whatever you need.tscottme Thanks this. -
I'll be interested in your trainer experiences. I want to apply to A&R in a few months. The pneumatic tanks sound fairly involved. I'm curious how they avoid being overweight. They must have scales at all these places because how else do they know how much product is in the truck?
-
I'll prolly do a weekly report on the trainer thing. As far as being overweight, the trucks/trailers have suspension gauges on them to get a close weight. Then you scale in/out on an actual scale either on the property or close by.

Congrats on completing orientation and welcome to A&R! I have been driving for A&R for a little over a year now and so far I have been very happy with the company. The best advice I can give you for the next two weeks is do not get discouraged with the loading process. I picked it up pretty quick my self, but I have seen other drivers struggle with it. It will take awhile to get used to loading all the different products, but I have found everyone to be very helpful with any questions I had when I was starting out. My trainer gave me his cell number and anytime I had a question when I was off on my own he would always answer it. Also there are usually other A&R drivers around when you are loading and are always willing to help. Good luck!crazeydude and Touk Thank this.
